LITTLE SWEETHEART

Make a hat following any of the basic patterns.

Large Heart (for Large or Medium size hats)

Row 1: With Red, ch 2, scin

second ch from hook: 1 se.

Row 2: Ch 1 , turn; 3 sc in sc: 3se.

Row 3: Ch 1 , turn; 2 sc in first sc, sc in next st, 2 sc in next sc: 5 sc.

Row 4: Ch 1 , turn; 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in last sc: 7 sc.

Row 5: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across. Row 6: Ch 1 , turn; 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in last sc: 9 sc. Row 7: Repeat Row 5.

Row 8: Ch 1 , turn; sc in first 5 sc, leave remaining sc unworked: 5 sc.

Row 9: Ch 1 , turn; skip first sc, sc in next 4 sc: 4 sc. Row 10: Ch 1 , turn; skip first sc, pull up a loop in each of next 3 sc, YO and draw through all 4 loops on hook; finish off: 1 st.

Second Half-Row 8: With right side facing, join Red with slip st in center st of Row 7, sc in next 4 sc: 5 sc. Rows 9 and 10: Repeat Rows 9 and 10 of first half. Large Leaf (Make 2)

With Green, ch 4, slip st in second ch from hook, hdc in next ch, work (dc, ch 3, slip st) in last ch; finish off leaving a length for sewing.

SMALL HEART

Work same as Large Heart through Row 5.

Row 6: Ch 1, turn; sc in first 4 sc, leave remaining sc

unworked: 4 sc.

Row 7: Work same as Row 10 of Large Heart.

Rows 6 and 7: Repeat Rows 6 and 7 of first half.

SMALL LEAF (Make 2): With Green, ch 3, slip st in second ch from hook, work (so, ch 2, slip st) in last ch; finish off.

Sew Heart and Leaves to hat as shown.
