Crocheted Turtle — requested by Johns Hopkins
- Using scraps of 4-ply yarn and size F crochet hook, you can make a turtle refrigerator magnet
- One skein of yarn in desired color yields approximately 23 turtles
- Note: to work LDC (Long Double Crochet), yarn over as for dc, pull up 1 inch loop, dc as usual
Directions:
- Ch 3, sl st to form ring, 10 sc in ring, join with sl st in first sc
- Row 1: Ch 3, LDC in same sc, 2 LDC in each remaining sc (20 LDC including ch 3), sl st in top of ch 3
- Row 2: Working in back of lp, ch 3, sl st in second ch from hook and in remaining ch, sl st in same sc (tail)
- Sc in each of next 2 sts, sl st in next sc, ch 4, hdc in 4 th ch from hook, sl st in same st (leg); sc in each of next 3 sts, sl st in next st, ch 4, hdc in 4 th ch from hook, sl st in same st (leg); sc in each of next 2 sts, sl st in next st, ch 3, 2 hdc in same st, 2 hdc and ch 3 in next st, sl st in same st (head); sc in each of next 2 sts, sl st in next st, ch 4, hdc in 4 th ch from hook, sl st in same st (leg); sc in each of the next 3 sts, sl st in next sc, ch 4, hdc in 4 th ch from hook, sl st in same st under tail and all around in back lp-19 sl sts
- Fill bottom with *1 hdc in each of the next 3 sts, sk 1 st*
- Repeat from * to * and fasten off
- Glue movable eyes to head and magnet to bottom
