Bonnet to Match Knit Burial Gown

Supplies:
- #5 Knitting Needles
- 3 ply yarn in white or appropriate pastel colors
Directions:
- Cast on 41 stitches
- Switch to #4 Knitting Needles Pattern: Row 1 : Knit across
- Row 2: (Right side): Kl, slip 1 as if to knit, Kl, PSSO, K9, K2 tog., *slip 1 as if to knit, Kl, PSSO, K9, K2 tog: Repeat from * across to last st, Kl
- Row 3: Purl across
- Row 4: Kl, slip as if to knit, Kl, PSSO, K7, K2 tog., *slip 1 as if to knit, Kl, PSSO, K7, K2 tog: Repeat from * across to last st, Kl
- Row 5: Purl across
- Row 6: Kl, slip 1 as if to knit, Kl, PSSO, YO, (Kl, YO) 5 times, K2 tog.,*slip 1 as if to knit, Kl PSSO, YO, (Kl, YO) 5 times, K2 tog., Repeat from * across to last st, Kl
- Repeat Rows 1-6 twice (Piece will measure about 2 inches)
- K one more row
- K next 2 rows/casting off 12 st at beginning of each. (Now have 17 st)
- Continue to K every row until this piece (back of bonnet) aligns with the front.
- Bind off and sew. Single crochet around the edge of entire hat.
- Weave very narrow ribbon (3/16" - 5mm) in and out around bottom, leaving enough ribbon to tie under chin.
For larger hat, use larger needles or Repeat pattern rows 1-6 and adjust back of bonnet accordingly.
